Don't Yell in the Casino by Anoop Patel
The inspiration form my final project comes from Las Vegas Casinos. I recently made a trip to Las Vegas, and the sounds of the casino as well the nature of casinos. It seemes as though the nature of the casino was the casino's 'natural' ablility to keep people gambling. The soundscape consisted of hundreds of different sounds – from the sounds of many people walking and talking to the hypnotic drone of masses of slot machines.The piece then gradually evolves into something much more alien and surreal. The overwhelming soundscape starts to dissolve and fragment, uncovering the ideological mind-trap that the casino can impose. The challenge presented to the listener is to observe this 'audable mutilation'.
